There is a wide shallow tidal beach so it's great for younger children, just don't forget the buckets and spades! Although you can grab these in the village of West Wittering on the way.
The large car park, which you need to book in advance, has a festival atmosphere. There are food trucks near to the entrance and many people take their own barbeques and camp chairs to cook up near the car and then head back to the beach. Toilets and showers can also be found in the car park.
If the wind is up you'll spot sailors, windsurfers and kite surfers all taking advantage. It can be exciting to watch them whizz around on the water and maybe even do some tricks!
It's a dog friendly beach although we wouldn't recommend taking your dog on the hot days in summer. There are not many shaded places and it may be too much for your furry friends. However on a cooler day it is absolutely great for dogs, it's generally much quieter and they can run in and out of the shallows to their hearts' content. Evenings and early mornings are also special times down by the shore, on a mild day there's no better place to be!
