Christmas Events Near Chichester

Chichester Festival Theatre

­The Christmas programme is packed with festive magic. Step into the enchanting world of A Boy Called Christmas, with live music, songs and a heartwarming story about the boy who becomes Father Christmas. The Three Little Pigs is a playful twist on the classic tale that’s perfect for little theatre-goers. Plus there are sparkling Christmas Concerts, mini movers parties, and a Santa's grotto so there is something festive on offer whether you are planning a special night out or a magical treat with the kids. 

National Trust Houses

­We're lucky to be close to three National Trust houses that all put on spectacular Christmas events, Mottisfont, Hinton Ampner, & Nymans, with fabulously decorated houses, games and trails for the children, and Christmassy treats in the cafes.    Take a look at your local National Trust house, they go all out! 

The Weald & Downland Museum

­The traditions of Christmas are celebrated at the museum, with beautiful natural decorations & volunteers bring the traditions to life. A great day to go is the wonderful Christmas tree dressing day on the 7th December.   Plus there is elf school for the little ones and, in the New Year enjoy Wassailing & a week where a historical reenactment group will live on site through the darkest part of the year as thought it were 1462. 

Chichester Shopping & Art

 

­Chichester is a lovely place for Christmas shopping, with its twinkling lights, historic streets and mix of independent boutiques and big-name stores all wrapped around the cathedral. Festive markets and seasonal events add extra charm through December, so you can pick up local gifts, enjoy warming food and drink, and soak up a really cosy Christmas atmosphere as you shop.  When the shopping is done the Cathedral has a free children's trail, and an interactive art exhibition where you can play with light and colour to project  your designs onto the bell tower

Winchester Christmas Market

­If you love a stroll around a Christmas market with a mulled wine and gingerbread, head to the large Christmas markets in Winchester.  There are more than 100 stalls to browse, a happy atmosphere, and an ice rink too.

­Visit the Butser Ancient Farm for winter celebrations from ancient times.   Portsmouth Historic Dockyard has a fab program of events with bands, story telling & crafts.    Gunwharf Quays is great for outlet designer shopping and you can keep the little ones entertained at the Elf Emporium shows & Grotto.  Plus there are festive canal trips in Chichester.
