Late spring is a wonderful time of abundance in the countryside, with the birds singing out as they feed their young, the first of the fallow deer young soon to be born and gardens about to burst into bloom. The heady fragrance of wild garlic (pictured above) fills the woodland and the vibrant young leaves of oak and beech are filling in the canopy, creating dappled shade for peaceful woodland walks. Stroll in the pleasure grounds of Petworth Park to walk amongst herds of deer as they raise their young Bambis, or wander quietly through the woods to spot them in the wild. Deer are often spotted foraging in our wildlife meadow.
A guest staying at Fern Lodge was kind enough to leave this review:
"We got to enjoy the outside decking and relax with the hammocks and enjoy the beautiful surroundings including the wild deer running through the field next to us, our children loved it too, the upstairs bedroom is breathtaking and includes a balcony to take it all in, the hot tub was perfect and immaculate, the log fire was so cosy in the evening..." |
