Oakwood West is the kind of place where a girls’ weekend feels easy, relaxed and just a little bit special. With flexible sleeping arrangements everyone will get a comfortable bed. It's a beautiful space whether you’re planning a quiet catch-up, a celebration weekend, or a proper recharge with your closest friends. Everyone has their own cosy space, while the shared living areas are perfect for long chats, lazy breakfasts, board games and getting ready together before a night out or a night in. After a busy day, you can sink into the hot tub, pour a glass of something cold and unwind under the stars.
Set in peaceful countryside, Oakwood West is ideal for switching off and spending quality time together, while still being close to West Wittering’s beautiful beach, Chichester’s shops and restaurants, and plenty of lovely walks and places to explore. There are pubs within a mile, and Ashling Park an award winning vineyard a 5 minute drive away. Over the road there are pizzas or Japanese street food, and there are great takeaways that will deliver dinner to you, and of course there's lots of delicious local produce too. It's a great spot for a girls weekend, rural enough for a complete chill out, but only a short drive or train ride to culture, shops, and nights out.

Thing to Do on A Girls Weekend near Chichester
If you and your girls love a chilled vibe, with lots of interesting places to visit and a beautiful base to come back to then Oakwood West is a great choice. You may not want to leave your cottage, with it's private garden, hot tub, and lovely social space, but if you do then here's a few local highlights:
Walk to the pub through the woods
Take a lovely walk through the woods to the Horse & Groom for a proper countryside pub stop. It’s a relaxed way to spend an afternoon with good food and drinks. There are so many other walks locally too, Kingley Vale is a great place for a picnic, pack the prosecco for when you get to the top of the hill.
Beach Day at West Wittering
If the sun is shining, head to West Wittering, where expansive sandy beaches and a sea perfect for swimming await you.
Go rowing on Chichester Canal
Enjoy a peaceful row along Chichester Canal and take in the wildlife, towpath views, and calm water. It's easy going, and really enjoyable.
Visit a stunning village
Soak up a bit of culture at a beautiful coastal village. Bosham is 5 minutes away and a postcard worthy place to visit, with a great pub, craft centre and old fashioned sweet shop, seaside walks, & ice creams.
Buy sourdough and pastries from Southbourne Farm Shop
Start the day with a visit to Southbourne Farm Shop for fresh sourdough, pastries, and local treats. Perfect for slow mornings back at Oakwood West with coffee and a leisurely breakfast.
Go shopping in Chichester or at Gunwharf
Spend a few hours browsing the boutiques and independent shops in Chichester, there are art galleries and museums to visit too. If you love labels then Gunwharf offers designer outlet shopping with plenty of cafés and restaurants too.
Enjoy a night in at Oakwood West
Stay in for a cosy girls’ night with the hot tub, a glass of something chilled, and a takeaway. It’s the easiest way to unwind and makes the weekend feel really indulgent. Over the road from Oakwood is a campsite which has a bar, live music on some weekends, and pop up pizza or Japanese street food.
Indulge in an afternoon tea
There are some amazing little cafes around that do a great afternoon tea, a personal favourite of ours is Blooms in Emsworth, it gets busy so you must book. If not try Joanna's in Chichester.
A night out in Chichester
For a livelier evening, head into Chichester for dinner and cocktails with friends. The Rocking Horse is a great place to start the night with their amazing speciality cocktails, lots of the pubs have live music and there are so many great places to eat, including the famous Ivy restaurant. Chichester Festival Theatre has a great program of events too.
